From the brilliant mind of comedian Brent Butt,
Corner Gas follows the life of Brent Leroy, owner of the only gas
station in the fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan.
Based loosely on Brent Butt's real life growing up in a small town
and his quirky friends and crazy, but loving, family. Perfect
casting makes this comedy as funny as any show ever made.
There's his parents: Emma & Oscar Leroy played to perfection by
Janet Wright and Eric Peterson, his friends: Hank Yarbo (Fred
Ewanuick), Wanda Dollard (Nancy Robertson, Butt's real-life spouse),
Lacey Burrows (Gabrielle Miller), Davis Quinton (Lorne Cardinal) and
Karen Pelly (Tara Spencer-Nairn). Each character is richly
defined and the show relies heavily on the strong chemistry between
them. Corner Gas is much like Seinfeld in that it follows the everyday
lives of a wacky bunch of people and the humor is droll but
hilarious. Thankfully, they don't add a laugh track but you'll
have no problem finding lots of big laughs in every charming episode. |
